Questions and Answers

What is a Welcome Class

The “Welcome to The Dance Gallery Class” is an introductory class for older beginners or for students who have had prior dance experience but
are new to The Dance Gallery. This class will serve as a springboard to move your child to the technique levels needed to join existing classes at
The Dance Gallery.

What is a Preschool Class?

Our preschool classes consist of 3 subjects (tap, ballet, and tumbling) taught at each lesson. Students learn dance techniques through songs designed for younger children.

What subjects are offered for older children?

All of our students are enrolled in tap and ballet classes. Starting in 3rd grade, students are eligible for jazz classes. Pointe work is offered to intermediate and advanced ballet students only.

What performance opportunities are offered?

The Dance Gallery performs many times during the dance season. Our younger students perform at “It’s A Dance Gallery Christmas.” In the
spring, performances include the Lubbock Arts Festival and the major production in June held at Monterey High School Auditorium

What is Hip Hop Haven or H3?

“Hip Hop Haven” is a once a month hip hop class for levels 3rd grade and higher. Hip Hop Haven (H3) is a safe haven in respect to lyrics and movements.

What is the Prep 4 Pom Clinic?

Saturday morning clinics will be held both Fall & Spring to better prepare students for high school pom try-outs. The Clinics will combine hip-hop and pom styled dance movements. Tips will be given to make your high school try-out less stressful and hopefully, successful!

What is the Leap & Turn Class?

Intense dance technique will be offered for intermediate and advanced dancers who yearn to improve their dance technique. Turn & Leap is a great way to improve without weekly commitments of time!

Did you know that private dance instruction can be a physical education substitution for school?

In accordance with local district policy, a school district may award up to two credits for physical education for appropriate private or commercially-sponsored physical activity programs conducted on or off campus. The district must apply to the commissioner of education
for approval of such programs, which may be substituted for state graduation credit in physical education.

Private or commercially-sponsored physical activities include those certified by the superintendent to be of high quality and well supervised by appropriately trained instructors. Student participation of at least five hours per week must be required. Students certified to participate at this level may not be dismissed from any part of the regular school day. >more

Check with your school district for further discussion. Doneece Pruss has a dance degree and certification in dance and PE. Several school
districts in the area are allowing private dance instruction as physical education substitute.
